What does OPSFest offer?
FIRST FOLIO / CUE-SCRIPT INTENSIVE
High School, University, & Adult
3-4 hours / Full Day Options
Max. 30 participants
(Multi-day workshops available)
This intuitive, text-based approach uses the First Folio of 1623 to tackle Shakespeare's language, characters and staging head-on. Memorization becomes effortless, meaning and action become clear, and the plays come instantly to life as participants work on their feet to stage a multitude of scenes and monologues selected from the entire canon.
"First Folio / cue-script technique" replicates the performance conditions of Shakespeare's day. No directors were employed at The Globe. Instead, each player was responsible for his own performance with little time to prepare. Shakespeare crafted his plays to be as easy as possible to perform, allowing an actor to instantly grasp a character and portray a scene to an audience.
Actors, directors, students, teachers, and anyone with an interest in Shakespeare will gain a deeper understanding of the plays and how they work in performance.

FROM PAGE TO STAGE
Grades 7-12
One class period
Max. 30 students
Students often find Shakespeare's works difficult to read, probably because they weren't written to be read! Actors and students work together to stage scenes from the play of your choice. By gaining a deeper understanding of how the characters and conflicts come to life in performance - the medium for which the plays were written - students gain deeper insight into the plot, characters, and theme.
SCENE AND GAMES

Two actors introduce Shakespeare by performing scenes from the play of your choice or a sampling of scenes selected from the comedies, histories, and tragedies. Includes a Q&A and discussion period.
